Clubs

Clubs offer students the opportunity to discover and learn, demonstrate leadership, connect with students and faculty with common interests, and improve both Solebury and the larger community.

Clubs meet regularly throughout each trimester, creating their own set of priorities and often holding workshops, seminars, field trips, and more.

Many of Solebury School's clubs have formed over the years as a result of student interest. While many clubs have a long history and their own set of traditions, new students inspire fresh ideas every year.

Art Appreciation Club

If you are interested in the arts department at Solebury, but don't want to commit to a whole class or didn't have the time, this is for you! In the Art Club we will be creating art, talking about art, going on trips to museums, and you will also have the opportunity to pitch ideas for fundraisers, and also sell your own work at these fundraisers! The art club will be meeting simultaneously with the NAHS and will work together with them.

Intercultural Student Association

The Intercultural Student Association, (ISA) is a student-led group that organizes events throughout the year to promote acceptance and respect for cultural differences and to celebrate the cultural diversity of the Solebury student body. Students plan annual events, such as the Moon Festival, Asian New Year Party, Casino night, and various food competitions. All students are welcome to participate and to discover something new!

Jewish Club

Latinx

LatinX is one of the many affinity groups that Solebury School has to offer and is run by Jen and Dan Perez. LatinX is a safe space where anyone who identifies or is an ally to the community can come and just be together. In addition, as a club, we plan and organize fundraisers and cultural events such as coat drives or Day of the Dead cookie decorating to bring attention to issues we care about and to educate our Solebury community about our culture. Being able to be with people who understand your life experiences and in some cases have been through them too is just one of the many reasons that LatinX and all affinity groups are a crucial part of our community.

National Art Honors Society (NAHS)

The NAHS is a very cool opportunity for people in the art department!! It gives students the ability to be recognized nationally, have your work displayed in exhibits nationwide, and also the chance to gain scholarships to a number of different art schools. The NAHS will participate in the same fundraisers as the art club, and possibly some of their own. The clubs will be meeting simultaneously, so there will be a lot of shared activities and discussions.

Record Club

SEAC - (Solebury's Environmental Action Corps)

SEAC has a dual mission: 1) to encourage conservation right here at Solebury and 2) to promote an awareness of the environmental issues facing the world today and inspire the Solebury community to work to solve them. We bring in speakers and have events on weekends. We are particularly proud to have been the driving force behind the school’s environmental improvements over the last decade including improved recycling policies, the institution of composting in the dining hall, and the creation of a community garden.

Solebury Service Society

The Solebury Service Society is composed of service-oriented students who want to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Students organize and take part in many community service events throughout the year, including weekend trips, fundraisers, MLK Day events, and an all-school Community Service Day. SpartanBuilders Engineering Club

The goal of this club will be to create and grow a "makerspace" for the Solebury community.

The concept of this club is to provide a regular time, place, and resources to build projects together, both individually and in teams, which will help us to appreciate the significance of the "STEM" / "STEAM" acronym buzzwords which are widely used today and vaguely understood (as scientists we will make up more acronyms as needed). Planned Spartanbuilder activities involve robotics, applied science and technology, wearable electronics, engineering design, 3D printed stuff, and trips to places that make cool things... All inputs and interest levels are welcome, let's use all of our amazing resources at Solebury and build Spartanbuliders together!

Spectrum

There are students here who are gay, who are bisexual, who are transgender, who are questioning. Some are “out”, others are not. At our meetings, no one is ever pressured to discuss their own sexuality or personal life. By coming to our meetings, you are not declaring you are gay, straight, or anything in between, you are simply saying you support our agenda. We believe that our presence on campus provides a level of comfort and assurance even for students who are not ready to come out at this point in their lives. Our goals are to make Solebury the safest and most accepting place it can be, to organize fun events for the student body, and to promote activism regarding LGBT issues. To accomplish this, we organize assemblies, gather groups of people to go to off campus events, and sponsor events on weekends and throughout the school year such as the Day of Silence.
